Omni-Tech®: Omni-Tech® technology consists of several layers to effectively protect you from the weather while wicking away internal moisture. All Omni-Tech® products have a water column of 10,000 mm and a breathability of 10,000 g/m²/24h. This combination will keep you as dry and comfortable as possible, whether you're facing rain in the city or challenging conditions in the mountains.
Techlite™: Columbia low-weight foam for the midsole. It offers immediate and long-lasting cushioning, excellent shock absorption and high energy return. It is extremely lightweight, comfortable right out of the box and resists precipitation wear.
Synthetics: The material of the upper includes a wide range of man-made fibres and laminates that are designed to overcome the limits of natural materials. The main advantages are low weight, high strength and fast drying ability. Modern synthetic materials are often developed with an emphasis on breathability and resistance to external influences such as moisture or mechanical damage. Thanks to their technological variability, they allow the production of specific textures and structures that provide the foot with the necessary support and flexibility while maintaining easy maintenance.
Coated leather : A natural leather material on the surface of which a layer of synthetic polymer (usually polyurethane) has been applied. This treatment is used to strengthen the material's resistance to external influences such as moisture, dirt and mechanical scratches. The coated leather retains the strength and stability of natural leather, while the synthetic film on the surface ensures colour uniformity and makes cleaning much easier. It is the ideal choice for footwear designed for inclement weather, where functionality and a long-lasting, presentable appearance without the need for heavy care is a priority.
Techlite™: A cushioning technology developed by Columbia that is used in the midsoles of shoes. It is lightweight, durable and designed for long-lasting comfort, efficient energy return and shock absorption during walking and outdoor activities.
Rubber: It is one of the most widely used materials for the production of soles due to its high mechanical resistance and durability. The main advantage of rubber soles is their excellent grip (traction) on different types of surfaces, which minimises the risk of slipping. The material is naturally flexible, waterproof and effectively absorbs shocks during walking. Depending on the compound, the rubber can be either soft for better contact with the ground or hard for maximum abrasion resistance on rough terrain.
Details
Columbia Sportswear, which has been providing good gear for outdoor enthusiasts for more than 80 years:
Gert Boyle's parents fled Nazi Germany in 1937 and settled in Portland, Oregon. There they bought a small hat company, which they named the Columbia Hat Company. This business represented a new beginning for the family and over time passed from Gerta's father to her husband Neal. After Neal's sudden departure in 1970, Gert went from housewife to manager overnight as she took over the management of the company.
Known as "Rough Mother," Gert Boyle left an indelible mark on Columbia Sportswear. Her legendary perfectionism ("It's perfect. Now make it even better.") and high standards influenced not only herself but everyone associated with the brand. These principles continue to guide Columbia today.
From humble beginnings as a family-owned hat distributor, Columbia Sportswear has grown into a global outdoor brand based in Portland, Oregon. The company produces active lifestyle gear enhanced by cutting-edge technologies that are tested right in its own backyard - the Pacific Northwest. Their clothing, footwear and accessories reflect the rugged spirit of this region, where lush forests, snow-capped mountains and open spaces serve as a playground.
