Materials
DWR (Durable Water Repellent): A special coating on the material that increases its resistance to water. It works by reducing the surface tension of the fibres - the liquid does not soak into the fabric, but forms droplets on the surface that simply slide down. This keeps the outer layer of the garment dry and light, which is crucial for the proper functioning of the breathable membranes underneath. Although DWR is not a complete waterproof barrier, it reliably protects against drizzle and dirt. To maintain the effect, it is advisable to renew the treatment over time with special impregnation products.
PFAS-Free: Products made without the use of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated substances, also known as "perpetual chemicals". These substances have traditionally been used in the textile industry for their ability to repel water and grease (e.g. in DWR treatments), but are not degradable in nature and accumulate in the human body. PFAS-Free products use modern, greener alternatives based on silicone or waxes to provide functional water resistance without negatively impacting the environment.
